Career Description
The North Dakota Beef Commission (NDBC) is the state agency responsible for collecting and investing Beef Checkoff dollars for promotion, research and education of beef and beef products. The commission's main focus is driving demand of beef for North Dakota beef producers. NDBC is governed by a producer-led board which focuses on strengthening consumer trust and surpassing consumer expectations.The North Dakota Beef Commission is seeking a Collection and Compliance Specialist to join our team! This full-time position is based in Bismarck, ND, with standard office hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required, along with occasional travel within the state and potentially out of state. The North Dakota Beef Commission is seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Collection and Compliance Specialist to oversee the collection and compliance efforts for both the North Dakota state beef checkoff and the National beef checkoff on cattle sales within and from the state. Key Responsibilities:Administer and enforce state and national beef checkoff collections in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.Manage in-state and out-of-state collection points (markets, dealers, individuals) to ensure timely monthly remittances.Distribute remittance forms to collection points each month.Conduct compliance research by reviewing brand records, publications, social media, and government or marketplace sites to identify private treaty sales, production sales, and direct-to-consumer sales.Contact producers via letter regarding potential non-compliance issues and follow up as necessary to secure payments.Maintain accurate and confidential records of checkoff payments, including state and national fund allocations, state of origin, late fees, and other critical details.Process and document payments, ensuring funds are securely handled and properly recorded.Address inquiries from producers and collection points regarding checkoff requirements.Coordinate with the Executive Director and the Collection Compliance Director from the Cattlemen's Beef Board for guidance and resolution of questions.Support collection compliance audits to ensure accountability.Represent the NDBC at promotional events and advocate for the beef industry.Manage orders and shipping for beef promotional and educational materials. Ideal Candidate Qualifications:Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and completeness in compliance documentation and reporting.Strong database management skills, including proficiency with data entry, organization, maintaining accurate records in information systems, and effectively tracking and managing ongoing projects to ensure timely completion and follow-up.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information, empathize, and build trust when addressing ranchers' and producers' questions and concerns.Curiosity and drive to research compliance issues thoroughly, demonstrating a proactive approach to uncovering and resolving challenges independently.Proficiency with financial tools and software for managing collections and records.A professional demeanor and the ability to represent the NDBC in a manner that fosters trust and collaboration among stakeholders.This role offers the opportunity to support the beef industry in North Dakota while ensuring compliance with essential funding programs that benefit producers and stakeholders statewide. Minimum Qualifications:To be considered for this opportunity, you must meet one of the following requirements:Associate degree in office, business, or customer service field with 2 years of related work experience High school diploma or GED and 3 years of related work experience.Must be able to lift heavy boxes (up to 50 pounds) and have a valid driver's license.
