The North Dakota Department of Agriculture is seeking an Ag Marketing & Development Specialist. Our mission is to serve, advocate, protect and promote agriculture to benefit everyone. The responsibilities of the selected candidate will include:Administer and promote Specialty Crop Block Grant Programs and the Resilient Foods Systems Infrastructure Grant (RFSI) Program. Manage monthly data entry and track grant expenditures.Reviews and approves grant-related payment requests, bills and invoices.Conduct statewide sight reviews to verify grant projects.Close grant projects consistent with the department processes and timelines.In cooperation with the fiscal division, reviews all monthly financial reports, makes corrections to grant-related income and revenue as needed, and communicate all changes to the Grants and Contracts Officer.Assist North Dakota businesses with grant eligibility and funding opportunities to develop their products' production, processing, and marketing.Maintain financial records per state records management guidelines.Assist with other Business, Marketing, and Information duties as assigned.This role supports the Commissioner in collaboration with the Business, Marketing, and Information Division. Given the necessity for considerable on-site involvement, the position is situated at the State Capitol building.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, Finance, Agriculture, or a related field.One year of work experience involving high-level administrative responsibilities, including participation in the development or revision of major projects or procedures.Working experience with Microsoft ExcelExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.A valid class D driver's license for in-state travel to conduct on-site reviews. Occasional travel to other states will be necessary as part of the job, specifically for attending conferences or training sessions relevant to the role.Preferred Qualifications:Fundamental understanding of agriculture and North Dakota agricultural commodities.Work experience managing grants and contracts.Proficient in using Access or other database software.Skilled in presenting in front of large groups.Proficient in interpreting state and federal guidelines.Worked in roles requiring strong organizational and record-keeping skills with a high level of attention to detail.Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, and WordApplication Procedures:Applicants must complete the online application at www.nd.gov/careers before the closing date by 11:59 PM, including a resume, cover letter and college transcript(s) (official or unofficial).
