Join our team of dedicated professionals at the State Library, where we provide pathways to information and innovation by making connections, strengthening communities, and enriching lives!POSITION: Information Services AssistantHIRING SALARY: $2,575 - 2,800/monthCLOSING DATE TO APPLY: January 20, 2025 In this essential position, you will be responsible for providing book vending machine management, performing tasks in shipping and materials management, and assisting patrons at the Information Services Desk for circulation and reference.You will be the staff member responsible for performing on-location administration of library vending machines around the state, including transportation, loading and unloading of library materials in machines, and providing patron assistance with machines over phone or via email. You will also perform visual inspections of the vending machines, communicate any issues, and follow up as needed. On a day-to-day basis, you will check in and check out materials in the library, re-shelve, shift, and straighten materials, provide basic reference and research assistance to patrons including the general public and staff of other state agencies, process incoming and outgoing mail, and conduct shelf reading and inventory of NDSL materials. You will keep accurate postage records and department statistics, and record charges, payments, and cash box receipts.Occasional overnight travel will be required. The required qualifications of this position:High school diploma or GEDOne year customer service experienceValid drivers licenseAbility to bend, kneel, twist, and lift up to 50 poundsCapacity to work outdoors in all weather conditionsThe preferred qualifications of this position:Previous library experienceExcellent written and oral communication skillsDetail-oriented with a commitment to accuracyExcellent listening skillsGood computer skills
