Heath Response and Licensure - Northwest and/or North Central, ND - Health InspectorSign-on Bonus Up to $4000!Conduct health and sanitation inspections to ensure establishments are following applicable state laws, rules, industry principles and policies for an assigned territory (primarily Northwest and/or North Central North Dakota) using an assigned state fleet vehicle.Starting Salary: $4,163 - $5,300/month (5% increase available after successfully completing six months of employment.)Shift: Option to work four (4) 10-hour days; five (5) eight 8-hour daysAs our Health Inspector, you will travel and conduct health and sanitation inspections of licensed food and/or lodging establishments, mobile home parks, recreational vehicle parks, campgrounds, body art and tanning facilities within an assigned territory. You will use your knowledge of state laws, rules, industry principles and policies to make compliance decisions based on observations, interviews, and record reviews. You will prepare complaint investigations, foodborne illness and injury investigations and assist with strategic planning as well as emergency planning and response. In addition, you will prepare educational materials and information sharing skills to improve the transparency of government, engage and extend resources to the regulated community and inform consumers.To succeed in this role, you can develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders while working independently and within a team. You make decisions based on knowledge and observations and convey and present information clearly and concisely. You are a life-long learner especially when it comes to environmental and regulatory program areas. You maintain composure under pressure working with competing priorities and deadlines. You enjoy a flexible work schedule and independent work environment.To be considered for this position, you must meet one of the following combination sets:Combination 1:A bachelor's degree in environmental health or in a physical, chemical or biological science.Be currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an Environmental Health Practitioner and possession of or the ability to obtain, the professional designation of a Registered Environmental Health Specialist/Registered Sanitarian (REHS/RS) with the National Environmental Health Association, within five (5) years of hire.Combination 2:A bachelor's degree; andTwo (2) two years of professional experience and progressive experience in food safety and food protection work; andPossession of or the ability to obtain, within 5 years of hire, the professional designation of the certified professional in food safety (CPFS) with the National Environmental Health Association.Combination 3:An associate degree; andFour (4) years of progressive experience in food safety work; andSuccessful passage of the certified professional food manager (CPFM) exam from a recognized accredited programCombination 4:A high school diploma or GED; andFive (5) years of progressive experience in food related work; andSuccessful passage of the certified professional food manager (CPFM) exam from a recognized accredited programA valid ND driver's license is required regardless of combination.Location: ND HHS utilizes a blended workplace model. This position will work from home and is responsible for an assigned territory primarily in Northwest or North Central North Dakota. Travel within the state of North Dakota is required. At least 75% of this position's duties will require daily travel; mostly day trips and some overnight stays as needed. A state fleet car, meal allowance and lodging expenses are provided for daily travel and when overnight travel is necessary.
