As an Equipment Operator, you will perform highway, roadway, and structure maintenance. The Driller Assistant performs a wide variety of duties as the assistant to the Well Driller on a two-person drill crew. The primary responsibilities are to assist in the completion of observation wells and test holes in meeting the mission of the Department. Drill work consists of completing test holes and 2-inch diameter observation wells that typically range in depth from 20 feet to 320 feet, with occasional wells completed at greater depths. The drill work is completed throughout the state of North Dakota requiring significant travel during the drilling season that generally occurs from May through October.

Minimum Qualifications

An Associated degree with the ability to obtain a bachelor's degree with major course work in petroleum engineering, geological engineering, or geology within two years from date of hire.Must have a valid driver's license, good driving skills, physical mobility, mental alertness, and ability to operate a four-wheel drive vehicle in all types of weather conditions to meet travel and inspection duty requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with oil and gas experience. Leadership skills, problem solving, self-discipline, time management, a positive attitude and motivated.Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, and GIS mapping software.Ability to work in northern plains climate year-round.
